FACILITATOR TRAINING

Workshop Facilitators are individuals who have been trained and are equipped to facilitate the six Healthy Congregations workshops in their own communities. This training involves fifteen classroom hours that focus on a solid introduction to systems and Bowen Family Systems Theory. Participants will learn how to utilize this foundation of knowledge in developing strategies for presenting all six workshops.
Cost: $800

WORKSHOPS
WORKSHOP 1
"Creating Healthy Congregations"
Workshop 1 introduces the basics of systems thinking and looks at building capacities to accept differences while focusing on organizational strength and mission.
WORKSHOP 2
"Healthy Congregations Respond to Anxiety and Change"
Workshop 2 focuses on identifying and dealing with anxiety in communities, management of conflict, and developing capacities to be flexible and creative through it all.
WORKSHOP 3
"Leadership in Healthy Congregations"
Workshop 3 works on the development of healthier processes by looking at how leaders function, rather than through programs and techniques. The workshop highlights the role leaders as providing immunity to processes that tear down the fabric of the community.
WORKSHOP 4
"Relationships in Healthy Congregations"
Workshop 4 deals with the development of graciousness and truth. The workshop focuses on building relationships founded in care, encouragement, and empowerment.
WORKSHOP 5
"Healthy Congregations Develop Generous People"
Workshop 5 looks at broad perspectives around stewardship and how it relates to emotional processes in a system.
WORKSHOP 6
"The Spiritual Life of Healthy Congregations"
Workshop 6 deals with sharing, hospitality and ‘beginning again as a way of life.’

This training involves 15 classroom hours that focus on a solid introduction to systems and Bowen Family Systems Theory. Participants will learn how to utilize this foundation of knowledge in developing strategies for presenting all six workshops.
TRAINERS
In the Healthy Congregations Network, over 100 people have been designated as those who train other people to be workshop facilitators. This level of development is a key to the further thinking about family systems and the principles and forces that impact congregational and community life.

Class size will be limited to 7 participants. To be considered for admission
to the training, applicants must submit the following materials:

Letter of application to Healthy Congregations, Inc. that indicates your reason for applying for the training and the history of your experience, education, and group work regarding family systems theory, Bowen theory and Healthy Congregations material. (This training focuses on those who have previously been trained as facilitators of HC material. If you have training that you would consider “parallel” to this experience, that will be taken into consideration. The expectation for our trainers is that they have a minimum of three years experience in leading HC material.)

Three letters of reference from those who have observed your work in family systems or Healthy Congregations workshop leadership giving candid assessment of strengths and growth areas.

A statement of commitment that specifically states how the trainer intends to be involved in an on-going family of origin or coaching experience that is Bowen family systems theory based.

An application fee of $250 is due along with the application materials. If you are admitted into the program, the balance of $450 is due by the beginning of training. The application fee will be refunded to those who are not admitted into the program at this time. If it is necessary to withdraw from the program, a refund will be granted if withdrawal occurs 30 or more days in advance of the event.

Following acceptance into the training, participants will each be given reading and specific leadership assignments to be shared with others during the training.

Costs include materials and tuition and are payable to Healthy Congregations, Inc.
